فَهِمَ / يَفْهَمُ (fahima / yafham) means "to to understand" in Arabic. Simplest present: أنا (ana) أَفْهَم (afham), أنتَ (anta) تَفْهَم (tafham), أنتِ (anti) تَفْهَمِين (tafhamīn), هو (huwa) يَفْهَم (yafham), هي (hiya) تَفْهَم (tafham), نحن (naḥnu) نَفْهَم (nafham). Below: all 3 tenses we teach, with examples.
Add a prefix (a-, ta-, ya-, na-) and for 'you (f.)' and the plurals a suffix (-īn, -ūn) to the present stem -ktub. It covers 'I write', 'I am writing' and 'I write every day'; the final -u of formal Arabic is dropped in speech.
