Croatian · Verb Tables · Beginner
dati means "to give" in Croatian. Simplest present: ja dam, ti daš, on / ona / ono da, mi damo, vi date, oni / one / ona daju. Below: all 3 tenses we teach, with examples.
Drop -ti from the infinitive and add -m, -š, -Ø, -mo, -te, -e/-ju to the stem. This one form covers both 'I do' and 'I am doing'.
| ja | dam |
| ti | daš |
| on / ona / ono | da |
| mi | damo |
| vi | date |
| oni / one / ona | daju |
Use the short present of 'biti' (sam, si, je, smo, ste, su) with the main verb's l-participle, which agrees with the subject's gender in the singular.
| ja | dao sam / dala sam |
| ti | dao si / dala si |
| on / ona / ono | dao je / dala je / dalo je |
| mi | dali smo |
| vi | dali ste |
| oni / one / ona | dali su |
Add the short present of 'htjeti' (ću, ćeš, će, ćemo, ćete, će) after the infinitive; for -ti verbs the -i is dropped when written together as one unit (radit ću).
| ja | dat ću |
| ti | dat ćeš |
| on / ona / ono | dat će |
| mi | dat ćemo |
| vi | dat ćete |
| oni / one / ona | dat će |
| Dajte mi račun, molim. | Give me the receipt, please. |
| Dat ću vam adresu. | I will give you the address. |
