Croatian · Verb Tables · Beginner
otići means "to leave" in Croatian. Simplest present: ja odem, ti odeš, on / ona / ono ode, mi odemo, vi odete, oni / one / ona odu. Below: all 3 tenses we teach, with examples.
Drop -ti from the infinitive and add -m, -š, -Ø, -mo, -te, -e/-ju to the stem. This one form covers both 'I do' and 'I am doing'.
| ja | odem |
| ti | odeš |
| on / ona / ono | ode |
| mi | odemo |
| vi | odete |
| oni / one / ona | odu |
Use the short present of 'biti' (sam, si, je, smo, ste, su) with the main verb's l-participle, which agrees with the subject's gender in the singular.
| ja | otišao sam / otišla sam |
| ti | otišao si / otišla si |
| on / ona / ono | otišao je / otišla je / otišlo je |
| mi | otišli smo |
| vi | otišli ste |
| oni / one / ona | otišli su |
Add the short present of 'htjeti' (ću, ćeš, će, ćemo, ćete, će) after the infinitive; for -ti verbs the -i is dropped when written together as one unit (radit ću).
| ja | otići ću |
| ti | otići ćeš |
| on / ona / ono | otići će |
| mi | otići ćemo |
| vi | otići ćete |
| oni / one / ona | otići će |
| Kada odlazite? | When are you leaving? |
| Otišli smo rano ujutro. | We left early in the morning. |
