razumjeti means "to understand" in Croatian. Simplest present: ja razumijem, ti razumiješ, on / ona / ono razumije, mi razumijemo, vi razumijete, oni / one / ona razumiju. Below: all 3 tenses we teach, with examples.
Drop -ti from the infinitive and add -m, -š, -Ø, -mo, -te, -e/-ju to the stem. This one form covers both 'I do' and 'I am doing'.
| ja | razumijem |
| ti | razumiješ |
| on / ona / ono | razumije |
| mi | razumijemo |
| vi | razumijete |
| oni / one / ona | razumiju |
Use the short present of 'biti' (sam, si, je, smo, ste, su) with the main verb's l-participle, which agrees with the subject's gender in the singular.
| ja | razumio sam / razumjela sam |
| ti | razumio si / razumjela si |
| on / ona / ono | razumio je / razumjela je / razumjelo je |
| mi | razumjeli smo |
| vi | razumjeli ste |
| oni / one / ona | razumjeli su |
Add the short present of 'htjeti' (ću, ćeš, će, ćemo, ćete, će) after the infinitive; for -ti verbs the -i is dropped when written together as one unit (radit ću).
| ja | razumjet ću |
| ti | razumjet ćeš |
| on / ona / ono | razumjet će |
| mi | razumjet ćemo |
| vi | razumjet ćete |
| oni / one / ona | razumjet će |
| Ne razumijem. | I don't understand. |
| Razumjeli smo sve. | We understood everything. |
