uzeti means "to take" in Croatian. Simplest present: ja uzmem, ti uzmeš, on / ona / ono uzme, mi uzmemo, vi uzmete, oni / one / ona uzmu. Below: all 3 tenses we teach, with examples.
Drop -ti from the infinitive and add -m, -š, -Ø, -mo, -te, -e/-ju to the stem. This one form covers both 'I do' and 'I am doing'.
| ja | uzmem |
| ti | uzmeš |
| on / ona / ono | uzme |
| mi | uzmemo |
| vi | uzmete |
| oni / one / ona | uzmu |
Use the short present of 'biti' (sam, si, je, smo, ste, su) with the main verb's l-participle, which agrees with the subject's gender in the singular.
| ja | uzeo sam / uzela sam |
| ti | uzeo si / uzela si |
| on / ona / ono | uzeo je / uzela je / uzelo je |
| mi | uzeli smo |
| vi | uzeli ste |
| oni / one / ona | uzeli su |
Add the short present of 'htjeti' (ću, ćeš, će, ćemo, ćete, će) after the infinitive; for -ti verbs the -i is dropped when written together as one unit (radit ću).
| ja | uzet ću |
| ti | uzet ćeš |
| on / ona / ono | uzet će |
| mi | uzet ćemo |
| vi | uzet ćete |
| oni / one / ona | uzet će |
| Uzet ću ovo, molim. | I'll take this, please. |
| Uzeli smo taksi do hotela. | We took a taxi to the hotel. |
