Conjugation › Polish › Płacić
Polish · Verb Tables · Beginner
płacić means "to pay" in Polish. Simplest present: ja płacę, ty płacisz, on / ona / ono płaci, my płacimy, wy płacicie, oni / one płacą. Below: all 3 tenses we teach, with examples.
Add the personal ending to the present stem; there is no separate auxiliary, so 'I read' and 'I am reading' are both simply 'czytam'.
| ja | płacę |
| ty | płacisz |
| on / ona / ono | płaci |
| my | płacimy |
| wy | płacicie |
| oni / one | płacą |
Replace the infinitive ending with a stem plus '-ł-' and a personal ending that also shows gender: masculine subjects use '-łem/-łeś/-ł...', feminine subjects use '-łam/-łaś/-ła...'. Both forms are given together below, e.g. 'czytałem / czytałam'.
| ja | płaciłem / płaciłam |
| ty | płaciłeś / płaciłaś |
| on / ona / ono | płacił / płaciła / płaciło |
| my | płaciliśmy / płaciłyśmy |
| wy | płaciliście / płaciłyście |
| oni / one | płacili / płaciły |
Future (będę + infinitive): conjugate 'być' in the future (będę, będziesz, będzie...) and add the infinitive. This is the easiest future form for imperfective verbs like 'czytać'.
| ja | zapłacę |
| ty | zapłacisz |
| on / ona / ono | zapłaci |
| my | zapłacimy |
| wy | zapłacicie |
| oni / one | zapłacą |
| Płacę kartą. | I pay by card. |
| Zapłacę gotówką. | I will pay in cash. |
