Conjugation › Polish › Widzieć
Polish · Verb Tables · Beginner
widzieć means "to see" in Polish. Simplest present: ja widzę, ty widzisz, on / ona / ono widzi, my widzimy, wy widzicie, oni / one widzą. Below: all 3 tenses we teach, with examples.
Add the personal ending to the present stem; there is no separate auxiliary, so 'I read' and 'I am reading' are both simply 'czytam'.
| ja | widzę |
| ty | widzisz |
| on / ona / ono | widzi |
| my | widzimy |
| wy | widzicie |
| oni / one | widzą |
Replace the infinitive ending with a stem plus '-ł-' and a personal ending that also shows gender: masculine subjects use '-łem/-łeś/-ł...', feminine subjects use '-łam/-łaś/-ła...'. Both forms are given together below, e.g. 'czytałem / czytałam'.
| ja | widziałem / widziałam |
| ty | widziałeś / widziałaś |
| on / ona / ono | widział / widziała / widziało |
| my | widzieliśmy / widziałyśmy |
| wy | widzieliście / widziałyście |
| oni / one | widzieli / widziały |
Future (będę + infinitive): conjugate 'być' in the future (będę, będziesz, będzie...) and add the infinitive. This is the easiest future form for imperfective verbs like 'czytać'.
| ja | zobaczę |
| ty | zobaczysz |
| on / ona / ono | zobaczy |
| my | zobaczymy |
| wy | zobaczycie |
| oni / one | zobaczą |
| Widzę morze! | I see the sea! |
| Zobaczymy się jutro. | We will see each other tomorrow. |
