precisar means "to to need" in Portuguese. Simplest present: eu preciso, tu precisas, ele / ela / você precisa, nós precisamos, eles / elas / vocês precisam. Below: all 3 tenses we teach, with examples.
Drop -ar/-er/-ir and add the present endings. Used for facts, habits and what is happening now ('Falo inglês', 'Quero um café'), and for the near future with a time word ('Amanhã volto' = I'll come back tomorrow).

| tu | precisas |
| ele / ela / você | precisa |
| nós | precisamos |
| eles / elas / vocês | precisam |
Drop the ending and add -ei, -aste, -ou, -amos, -aram (-ar verbs); -i, -este, -eu, -emos, -eram (-er); -i, -iste, -iu, -imos, -iram (-ir). Used for any finished action: 'Falei com o gerente' = I spoke to the manager; it also covers English 'have done' ('Já comi' = I have eaten).

Present of 'ir' (vou, vais, vai, vamos, vão) plus the infinitive: 'Vou falar com ele' = I'm going to talk to him. This is how most people talk about plans in speech; the one-word future (falarei) is mostly written.
