Pokupat' Conjugation

покупать (pokupat') means "to to buy" in Russian. Simplest present: я (ya) покупаю [pokupayu], ты (ty) покупаешь [pokupayesh'], он / она / оно (on / ona / ono) покупает [pokupayet], мы (my) покупаем [pokupayem], вы (vy) покупаете [pokupayete], они (oni) покупают [pokupayut]. Below: all 3 tenses we teach, with examples.

Simplest present Настоящее время (Nastoyashcheye vremya)

Take the imperfective verb, drop -ть and add the personal endings (-ю, -ешь, -ет, -ем, -ете, -ют for group 1). Used for what is happening now, what happens regularly and general facts; there is no separate 'I am working' form.

я (ya)покупаю [pokupayu]
ты (ty)покупаешь [pokupayesh']
он / она / оно (on / ona / ono)покупает [pokupayet]
мы (my)покупаем [pokupayem]
вы (vy)покупаете [pokupayete]
они (oni)покупают [pokupayut]

Simplest past Прошедшее время (Proshedsheye vremya)

Drop -ть and add -л / -ла / -ло / -ли to agree with the subject's gender and number; the same endings work for every person. Used for anything finished or in the past: Я работал (a man says), Я работала (a woman says).

я (ya)покупал / покупала [pokupal / pokupala]
ты (ty)покупал / покупала [pokupal / pokupala]
он / она / оно (on / ona / ono)покупал / покупала / покупало [pokupal / pokupala / pokupalo]
мы (my)покупали [pokupali]
вы (vy)покупали [pokupali]
они (oni)покупали [pokupali]

Simplest future Будущее время (Budushcheye vremya)

Use the future of 'to be' (буду, будешь, будет, будем, будете, будут) plus the imperfective infinitive: Я буду работать = I will work / I am going to work. The perfective future (one word, e.g. я куплю = I will buy) is the other way; you can recognize it now and learn it at Ex-Pat.

я (ya)буду покупать [budu pokupat']
ты (ty)будешь покупать [budesh' pokupat']
он / она / оно (on / ona / ono)будет покупать [budet pokupat']
мы (my)будем покупать [budem pokupat']
вы (vy)будете покупать [budete pokupat']
они (oni)будут покупать [budut pokupat']
