U menya yest' Conjugation

у меня есть (u menya yest') means "to to have" in Russian. Simplest present: я (ya) у меня есть [u menya yest'], ты (ty) у тебя есть [u tebya yest'], он / она / оно (on / ona / ono) у него / у неё есть [u nego / u neyo yest'], мы (my) у нас есть [u nas yest'], вы (vy) у вас есть [u vas yest'], они (oni) у них есть [u nikh yest']. Below: all 3 tenses we teach, with examples.

Simplest present Настоящее время (Nastoyashcheye vremya)

Take the imperfective verb, drop -ть and add the personal endings (-ю, -ешь, -ет, -ем, -ете, -ют for group 1). Used for what is happening now, what happens regularly and general facts; there is no separate 'I am working' form.

я (ya)у меня есть [u menya yest']
ты (ty)у тебя есть [u tebya yest']
он / она / оно (on / ona / ono)у него / у неё есть [u nego / u neyo yest']
мы (my)у нас есть [u nas yest']
вы (vy)у вас есть [u vas yest']
они (oni)у них есть [u nikh yest']

Simplest past Прошедшее время (Proshedsheye vremya)

Drop -ть and add -л / -ла / -ло / -ли to agree with the subject's gender and number; the same endings work for every person. Used for anything finished or in the past: Я работал (a man says), Я работала (a woman says).

я (ya)у меня был / была [u menya byl / byla]
ты (ty)у тебя был / была [u tebya byl / byla]
он / она / оно (on / ona / ono)у него / у неё был / была [u nego / u neyo byl / byla]
мы (my)у нас был / была [u nas byl / byla]
вы (vy)у вас был / была [u vas byl / byla]
они (oni)у них был / была [u nikh byl / byla]

Simplest future Будущее время (Budushcheye vremya)

Use the future of 'to be' (буду, будешь, будет, будем, будете, будут) plus the imperfective infinitive: Я буду работать = I will work / I am going to work. The perfective future (one word, e.g. я куплю = I will buy) is the other way; you can recognize it now and learn it at Ex-Pat.

я (ya)у меня будет [u menya budet]
ты (ty)у тебя будет [u tebya budet]
он / она / оно (on / ona / ono)у него / у неё будет [u nego / u neyo budet]
мы (my)у нас будет [u nas budet]
вы (vy)у вас будет [u vas budet]
они (oni)у них будет [u nikh budet]
