Border officers register fingerprints and a photo under the EU Entry/Exit System (fully running since 10 Apr 2026). ETIAS is not required yet; the EU has not confirmed a start date. A France-US agreement lets US citizens spend a further 90 days in metropolitan France after a Schengen stay; tell the border officer you want to use it.
