Entry & Visa
German citizens can enter Austria with an ID card or passport (free movement).
Free movement: ID or passport is enough
EU citizen: enter with a valid passport or national ID card; there are normally no border checks inside the Schengen area, but carry your document. The EU Entry/Exit System covers only non-EU nationals, so it does not apply to you. For a stay of more than 3 months you may need to register your residence.
